Hello:
I am planning to install a packet radio station at 9600 baud. A
vendor offer me the next equipments:
- AEA, PK-96 Packet Controller.
- Transceiver SRL-1630U, Ranger, UHF synthesized.
Does anyone give an opinion about these equipments?

And if it isn't possible/convenient, there's
another medium amateurs often overlook:
The telephone!
A personal call to a new user (if local, I guess)
could make a big difference in the way they're
introduced to your PBBS and perhaps packet in
general.

Excellent tip, and possibly the opportunity
to become someone's first true "Elmer."

Especially those nifty green coupons accepted
in exchange for radios and computers by all
vendors!
Also, what do you want to bet that people
"flame" people they've met in person (or even on
the telephone) a LOT less than people they've
never met? 8-)

Mark if you could try that I and Bill ka5oyo will be very
pleased. I don't have the training to even try re-writing nos for dos to
nos for Xinex. A NOS that will attach to a kiss tnc is what we need and
it will get us started.

The pre-NOS version of KA9Q NET that Bdale and I put together, 890421.1, is
still available via FTP to vax.cs.pitt.edu in the files
pub/ka9q/net-unix.cpio.Z
pub/ka9q/net_doc.cpio.Z
W2XO's BBS package that runs under that version of NET is also available:
pub/hamradio/xobbs/xobbs82.tar.Z

There is an in-progess port of Linux to the 68000, which I understand is
actually running now. It might be a lot easier to recompile the existing JNOS
for Linux on the 68000 than to kludge up something for Xenix.
